About Me

To my students and their families,

My name is Mrs. Veronica Hernandez and it is my pleasure to welcome your child into my 5th grade classroom. This will be my fifth year teaching and my third year here at Santa Rita.

In these first few days, the students and I have been getting to know each other through various activities. We have also discussed all of the rules, consequences, and procedures, which are important for a stable and productive classroom. The major focus throughout this school year will be to sharpen the academic and social skills your child will need to be successful in both school and life.

Furthermore, your child should bring his/her binder or folder to school every day. It is very important, as it will hold both class work and homework. Students will be given homework in language arts, math, and reading everyday to practice the skills we are learning in class. Please make sure to sign your child’s daily summary and make time to ask him or her about their reading. I have provided the procedures, class rules, consequences, rewards, and schedule for your convenience.

In addition, I hold very high expectations for each of my students. I will push your child to get out of their comfort zone and become more confident with his/her learning. I will also prepare them for an easy transition to middle school.

Finally, it is my belief that parent involvement is vital to a child’s success in school, so I will do my best to keep you informed and involved in your child’s classroom life throughout the year. You are also welcomed to call, email, or stop by to see how your child is doing in class at any time. If you would like to donate supplies to our class (tissue, paper, pencils, etc…) please let me know or send them with your child to school. Below you will find my contact information.

Here’s to a great year!
